The short version
We store your email, your photos, and your progress so the app works. Your photos are private to your account. We don’t run ads, we don’t sell data, and you can delete everything yourself, any time.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and a password. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth; we never see or store your password ourselves.
Your photos. The pictures you place as proof, plus the technical settings your camera wrote into them (shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length) when present.
Your progress. Which techniques you’ve completed, your XP, badges, and streak. A small localDay cookie records your local calendar date so streaks count days fairly in your timezone.
Your messages to Iris. The questions you send the guide, plus a per-day message count that enforces the daily limit.
Where it lives
Everything is stored with Supabase (our database and file storage provider). Photos sit in a private bucket only your account can access, served through short-lived signed links — they are never public and never visible to other users.
AI processing (Iris)
When you message Iris — and only then — your message, the lesson you’re on, and (if you attach one) your photo and its camera settings are sent to Anthropic, the AI provider, to generate her reply. Under Anthropic’s API terms this data is not used to train their models. Iris gives feedback and coaching only; she never decides whether a photo counts — that’s always you.
Errors and analytics
If something breaks we may receive a technical error report (via Sentry) that can include your account id — it helps us fix bugs, nothing else. We also use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which parts of the app get used. No advertising identifiers, no cross-site tracking, no data sales — ever.
Deleting your data
You can remove any photo from its technique page. You can delete your entire account — photos, progress, badges, and sign-in — from the bottom of your profile. Deletion is immediate and permanent. For a copy of your data, email us and we’ll send it.
Changes
If this policy changes in any meaningful way, we’ll say so on the site — not bury it. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
